For your convenience, we have provided explanations
for the following terms.
Headhunter
Headhunter is commonly defined as: a recruiter of personnel
especially for corporations. Sometimes “Head Hunter” is
split into two words but in most cases it is simply “Headhunter”.
Headhunter is a colloquial term that is sometimes regarded as derogatory
within the Employment Recruitment Agency industry. Typically it’s
a term associated with Recruitment Agencies in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
or elsewhere that are more aggressive in their recruiting tactics. It’s
not uncommon for these types of aggressive Recruitment Agencies or Headhunters
to call potential candidates at their work place during business hours.
These types of calls are typically unsolicited by the potential candidates.
Very often the candidate will listen to the opportunity being offered,
but it’s really more of a shot in the dark by the Employment Recruitment
Agency/ Headhunter. In fact, sometimes these types of calls are not
appreciated by the potential candidate. But on the other hand when an
interested potential candidate is reached they very much appreciate
the call and are happy when they are given the opportunity to upgrade
their career.
Candidate
Candidate refers to people who are looking for new employment
opportunities. They can also be referred to as recruits, job seekers
or applicants. Typically in the Recruitment Agency industry most candidates/
recruits/ job seekers/ applicants believe that they are the end client.
This in fact is not true. For the candidates the services offered by
Recruitment Agencies in Montreal are free. It is arguably unethical
to charge candidates a fee for Recruiting services. This being said
the true client is the employer. These employers have mandated the particular
Recruitment Agency to help them locate, recruit and hire candidates
that fit a specific set of criteria. They in turn pay a fee to the Recruitment
Agency for the services rendered. In our case, Proforce Personnel charges
its clients on a contingency bases.
Although candidates don’t pay any fees,
it is one of Proforce Personnel’s founding philosophies to treat
them like clients. In fact we do more than just that. We invest heavily
in the relationship. We council candidates and we worry over their needs.
We try to help them regardless of the placement outcome. In return,
they refer us to their friends. The employers we work with benefit because
they meet with “hidden talents” that would otherwise not
be on the job market.
Recruitment Agency
Montreal-based Recruitment Agencies go by many terms. The official North
American Industry Classification System (NAICS) which is the newer version
of the Standard Industry Classification(SIC) categorizes the entire
industry in one of three ways; Employment Placement Agencies, Temporary
Help Services or Professional Employer Organizations. So, officially
Proforce Personnel could be referred to as any one the three later names.
Unofficially in Montreal, Quebec and Canada use many synonyms of the
above names. Recruitment Agency, Recruiting Agency, Staffing Agency,
Recruitment Firm, Recruiting Firm, Staffing Firm, Search Agency, Search
Firm, Executive Search Firm, Executive Recruitment Agency, Temporary
Staffing Agency, Temporary Recruiting Agency, IT Consulting Firm, Placement
Firm. These are just a few terms that all mean the same thing. There
are many more, but essentially what they all mean is that. A company
hires an outside agent to help them recruit a person with a specific
set of skills.
